How does the Miami Sightseeing Pass work?

Sightseeing in Miami| ©HISTOGRAPHY

The Miami Sightseeing Card works quite simply. You choose the pass that best suits your itinerary and budget, according to the number of days or attractions offered. Manage the purchase from the comfort of your mobile phone and receive your digital ticket (QR code) immediately.

When you arrive at the attraction, all you have to do is show the QR code on your pass at the ticket office. This way, you will be able to access the attraction without queuing (e.g. when boarding one of Miami's best sightseeing buses, which are usually included in all Miami sightseeing passes).

Regarding the validity time of Miami sightseeing passes, you will have approximately 1 year to use them after purchase. However, after activating the pass (scanning it for the first time), this time period is reduced.

It all depends on the type of tourist card you have. For example:

  • The 1, 2, 3 or 5 day all-inclusive pass: gives a time limit of about 15 days after activation.
  • The Explorer Pass (2, 3, 4 or 5 attractions): offers about 60 days, counting from the first time you enjoy one of the selected attractions, such as the Miami bike tour, the visit to the Little Truman House, etc.
  • The Sightseeing Day Pass is valid for the consecutive number of days chosen (1, 2, 3, 4 or 5).
  • The Sightseeing Flexi Pass (2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 attractions): once you visit the first attraction, such as the Miami Seaquarium, you will have up to 60 days to access the rest of the attractions.

The truth is that there are few scenarios where purchasing a pass would not be advisable. But, the only way it is not recommended to buy the pass is if the activities or places of interest offered are not on your list of preferences.

Among the experiences that are not offered with the pass are: helicopter rides over the city, a visit to the Miami Tobacco Factory, Lamborghini driving experiences, escape rooms, private plane tours, among other more exclusive activities.

Apart from the tourist cards offered by Go City (all-inclusive pass and explorer pass) and Sightseeing (day pass and flexi pass), there are no other passes available in Miami. However, these options will be enough to explore the city at your own pace and discover the must-see destinations.

Miami's tourist cards are offered by day (Go City's all-inclusive Miami pass, with a choice of 1, 2, 3 or 5 days; the Miami Sightseeing day pass allows you to choose between 1, 2, 3, 3, 4 or 5 days). There are also passes by number of attractions or activities (the Miami Explorer Pass for 2, 3, 4 or 5 attractions and the flexible Miami Sightseeing Pass is valid for 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 attractions).

All of them are ideal for you to organise your itinerary according to your interests, length of stay and budget. You can hop on the Big Bus night tour bus, visit Little Havana, go to the Museum of Illusions, enjoy the nearby beaches and cays, such as Key West and Key Biscayne, etc.

Tips on how to get the most out of your Miami Tourist Card

Miami Sightseeing Cards are an ideal tool to enjoy the city's must-see destinations without having to spend too much money. Although the use of these passes is almost intuitive, you will need to take into consideration some tips that will allow you to get the most out of them.

Plan your tours

Although most tourist passes suggest some suggested itineraries, it's best to plan your own tour. You should assess the length of your stay, which can be 1-3 days in Miami or more. Also, make sure that the must-see destinations according to your preferences, those places you are curious about and can't miss, are included in the options on the card.

Also, specify the location of each of the attractions, as well as their respective hours of operation. This way, you can create a route as close as possible to each destination, avoiding wasting time going from one end of the city to the other. In fact, you can use the app on your pass to find out routes, distances, means of transport, etc.

Prefer digital entry

When you purchase your pass, you will have the option of receiving it digitally or accessing it through an app such as Sightseeing Pass Travel Guide or Go City. Both present the pass in QR code format.

The advantage of this is that you will always have the pass at hand on your mobile, you will have little risk of losing it and the processes to enter the attractions will be more authorised, allowing you to save time.

Make reservations

Even if you visit the city in low season, you should know that the tourist flow is quite fluid throughout the year. Especially if you travel to Miami in the summer, you will find that many of the attractions require queuing to get in, so it is best to make reservations for your visits.

On the other hand, depending on the type of attraction, reservations are required regardless of the time of year or the type of pass purchased. So keep an eye on this aspect and take the necessary measures.
