The best transfers from Miami Airport to the city and the harbour
There are several ways to get from the airport -or the port of Miami- to the city centre but, without a doubt, if you want the most comfortable way, what I recommend is a transfer in a private vehicle. It will take you straight to your hotel and if you hire it in advance you'll avoid the hassle of getting there. If in your case, what you need is a transfer to go to the port once your flight lands, there are also connection options between the airport and the port.
However, if you're looking to save some money to spend on your visit to Miami, you can of course use public transport from the airport by taking the train to the city centre. You'll also always have the option of Uber or hiring your own car, a common practice on this type of trip.
Private transfer from Miami International Airport to the city
This is the easiest way to get to Miami from the airport. When you land, a driver will be waiting at the exit to take you and your companions in a private vehicle, and will drop you off at the door of your hotel.
The great advantage of this private transfer from the airport to your hotel in Miami is that you won't have to worry about how to get to the city, you will have help with your bags and other luggage, and you won't have to wait for anyone else or make extra stops, you will go directly from the airport to your hotel in a comfortable minivan.
Premium private transfer from the airport to downtown
If you want an even more exclusive option than the previous one, you have the possibility to make this journey door to door with a private transfer in a Premium vehicle. This service works in the same way as the previous one: you will have to provide your flight and accommodation details so that the company can organise to pick you up and take you to the door of your hotel as quickly and comfortably as possible.
Private transfer to the port of Miami
Perhaps you have a much more exciting plan waiting for you when you arrive in Miami - go on a cruise or a yacht trip! For this, you can use this private transfer to get to the port of Miami in a comfortable, fast and stress-free way.
As with the previous option, your chauffeur will be waiting for you at the arrivals terminal ready to help you with your luggage and take you in a private vehicle to your destination at the port, without having to make unnecessary stops or wait.
Other options from Miami airport
In case car transfers are not for you, here are some alternative methods of transport, ranked from best to worst in my experience:
Public transportation: MIA Mover
The cheapest option to get to Miami is the MIA Mover, a train that will take you from the airport to the Miami Intermodal Center, from where you can take the orange monorail line to downtown Miami.
To catch the MIA Mover at the airport, go to the third level between the Dolphin and Flamingo garages and take the Skyride to access the station.
Rent a car
If you were planning on renting a car to use during your stay in Miami, I recommend that you skip any other way of getting downtown from the airport and rent a car directly from the airport and drive to your hotel.
This way, you'll save the extra transfer fee and you'll have your car ready from the beginning of your trip to explore Miami without limits.
Uber
Taking an Uber to your hotel is another option, but the truth is that if you're going to opt for this it's almost better to book a transfer in advance. You'll pay more or less the same but with the advantages of not having to ask for it when you arrive at the airport and having personalised service.
