Step by Step
This tour departs from Taipei and enters Yangmingshan National Park, some 114 square kilometres of nature at the gates of the capital. The mountains are volcanic in origin and phenomena such as hot springs and the smell of sulphur are visible.
The tours are conducted in an air-conditioned vehicle and include an expert guide. The tour lasts between 4 and 6 hours and you have the possibility to customise the itinerary. Among the stops, you could pass by:
- Flower Clock: located near the west entrance of the park and is an authentic clock made up of plants and flowers.
- Xiaoyoukeng: a scenic area at about 805 metres above sea level. Here you will understand the power of the volcano by the presence of fumaroles, the soft ground and the intense smell of sulphur.
- Menghuan Lake: it is located about 800 metres above sea level and geologists believe that its origin is related to a depression caused by a fumarole.
- Qingtiangang Circular Route: The route is approximately 3km long and does not require excessive physical exertion. The route passes through cattle pastures and includes a suspension bridge and a viewpoint.
Experienced hikers can choose the more complete option, which includes the ascent of Qixing Mountain. Also known as Seven Star Mountain, it is Taiwan's highest peak (1120m above sea level) and a dormant volcano. A moderate level of fitness is required.
