Step by Step
On this 3-day , small group tour to Tortuguero National Park from San Jose, you'll experience one of the country's premier ecotourism areas, known for being home to the most important green turtle nesting beach in the Americas.
During the trip, which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and accommodation, you will explore a great diversity of natural environments ranging from tropical rainforests to beaches, marshes and wetlands, with unique species of flora and fauna.
You will depart from San José to the port. You will take a boat to navigate through the canals to the village of Tortuguero. On the way, you will be able to observe animals such as caimans, monkeys, sloths and a great variety of birds.
You will have the opportunity to visit the beaches where the green turtles lay their eggs in season and if you plan your trip during the nesting season, between July and September, you will see them in the area.
Together with expert local guides, you'll take unforgettable walks through the rainforest, where howler monkeys and anteaters roam everywhere.
Throughout your three-day, two-night stay, you'll be provided with all the comforts and necessities of home. The food is delicious, with a wide variety of typical Costa Rican dishes.
In addition, the town of Tortuguero has a small but lively nightlife, with cosy bars and traditional restaurants.
Tortuguero National Park is administered by the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC) and is one of the most important protected areas in Costa Rica. It has a large number of endangered species, such as the jaguar, manatee and danto.
