Step by Step
This private guided tour takes you into the Old Medina and other areas of interest in Casablanca. Total duration is 4-5 hours and transfers are in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle. The activity includes hotel pick-up and drop-off, an expert guide, water, sweets and refreshing towels.
One of the stops is usually the Hassan II Mosque. It stands on an artificial peninsula overlooking the ocean and is the third largest mosque in the world. It was inaugurated in 1993 and houses beautiful muqarnas (typical ceiling decorations). Also stop by:
- Rick's Café: the bar that pays homage to the eponymous venue from "Casablanca", the cult film starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.
- The Corniche: the seafront promenade, where the most prestigious hotels and restaurants are concentrated.
- Place de Mohammed V: noted for its art deco and Hispano-Muslim architecture.
- Notre Dame de Lourdes: Catholic church built in the 1950s. It has an imposing structure, with architecture that combines Gothic and Art Deco.
- Habous quarter: worth a visit for the many craft shops, the bars offering mint tea and the souks specialising in olives.
The itinerary also includes the Central Market, specialising in food, crafts and souvenirs. It is the perfect place to buy antiques, Moroccan Berber leather slippers, spices and much more.
