Step by Step

This gastronomic itinerary is perfect for lovers of good food. An expert guide will accompany you to the market in the Habous district, which is particularly famous for its olive souk. The tour is available all year round and lasts between 3 hours and 3.5 hours.

The activity is designed for small groups and the tasting includes more than 10 Moroccan specialities, both sweet and savoury, among which you could find:

  • Merguez: a fresh, spicy sausage popular in much of North Africa and the Middle East.
  • Traditional pastries: most famous is Seffa, a dish of Berber origin. It has a semolina base with toasted almonds, icing sugar and cinnamon. Inside is saffron chicken, a flavour that contrasts sweet and savoury.
  • Mint tea: In Morocco, it is made with three ingredients: Gunpowder tea leaves, sugar and green mint.
  • Msemen: Moroccan crepe, also known as Rghaif.
  • Fried food: In the bazaars of Casablanca you can find briouats (crispy filo dough rolls filled with spicy minced meat, in savoury and sweet versions), chebakias (honey sweets with sesame seeds) and other specialities.
  • Moroccan sandwich: a street food classic. Made with minced beef, ginger, red onion, Greek yoghurt, fresh coriander and spices.
  • Juices: these are very popular and you can decide the flavour combination yourself.

As the activity is done on foot, comfortable clothing is recommended.

We learned a lot about Moroccan culture and society through the food. The guide was able to explain every detail and the price was very good.

Habbous was a fascinating place full of bakeries and markets. What I liked the most were the sauces for the breads, they were delicious.
