Step by Step

Delve into the depths of Caribbean nature and be amazed by all its splendour with this day trip to the Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve. You will arrive comfortably from your hotel in Merida (Mexico), where you will return after completing this activity.

There, the richest natural reserve of the State of Yucatan awaits you. Made up of more than 80,000 hectares of protected natural space, the area encompasses different habitats, such as mangroves, petenes, dunes, coastal savannahs and a flooded jungle zone. They are home to more than 300 species of animals.

This experience also includes a boat trip on the waters of the Celestún estuary. The richness that comes from being a mixture of waters from the Mexican Caribbean with others that emanate from the springs in the area make it a great attraction for natural species, especially birds. This is the case of the flamingos, 18,000 of which find their home in this area.

You will have the opportunity to be accompanied by an expert local guide, who will explain all the curiosities about this region, the natural space and the species of flora and fauna that live there.

I found the excursion very complete and interesting to do and to enjoy a bit of flora and fauna. It was a real pity that the weather wasn't the best on the day I had to do it, but I'm looking forward to repeating it in the future.
