Step by Step
Join this 2-hour walking tour in a small group and get to know the highlights of East Berlin. Let your local guide lead you through the different stops on this walking tour to discover how the former Soviet sector of the city became the front line of the Cold War.
You will follow the route of the Berlin Wall and learn about the functioning of the two-wall system (with the Section of Death in the middle). In addition, during the walk, the guide will share with you the stories of the lives and tragic deaths trying to get over the wall.
Reconstruct history with all the information you will gather at the different stops along the tour:
- Friedrichstrasse
- The Palace of Tears, the crossroads between East and West Berlin.
- The Chapel of Reconciliation
By the end of the tour you will have become an expert on espionage between East and West and life beyond the Wall:
- How the Stasi (the feared East German secret police) interrogated and intimidated citizens.
- How GDR citizens lived
- How the "ghost stations" functioned
- The "Ostalgie" concept
