Step by Step

This activity departs from Haleiwa harbour and heads out into the open sea. Once at the chosen spot, the boat drops anchor and prepares to lower a cage into the water, allowing you to see the sharks from a short distance. If you don't feel like it, you can stay on board and admire the scene from above. The total duration is approximately 2 hours.

For safety reasons, you will be given a short briefing before the dive to explain how to behave underwater. In any case, you need not worry, as it is designed to withstand any attack from marine predators. Please note that the cage can only accommodate 2 people.

Snorkelling equipment is included and, after putting on your mask and snorkel, you'll be able to admire the ocean killers up close. The species that inhabit this stretch of sea are as follows:

  • Grey shark: recognisable by its massive body, very high dorsal fin and large round eyes. It is a relentless predator that feeds mainly on bony fish, crustaceans and cephalopods.
  • Hammerhead shark: its peculiarity is undoubtedly its T-shaped head, not very graceful but very useful for having a field of vision of almost 360° and for detecting the electric fields created by prey. It is the only omnivorous shark species, as marine plants are part of its diet. However, its favourite prey is the stingray.
  • Galapagos shark: a specimen characterised by its greyish-brown colour that contrasts with its white belly. It has a curious character and tends to approach boats. Its diet consists mainly of squid and octopus.

In addition to sharks, this activity will give you the opportunity to see humpback whales, green turtles, spinner dolphins and other species.
