Step by Step
Tickets for this activity guarantee access to a luau party, Hawaii's signature party. These celebrations include Hula (traditional dance with hand, foot and hip movements in tune), Lei garlands, torches, music and fire knife dancers. The experience lasts approximately 2 hours and at the time of booking, you can choose from three formulas:
- Aloha: welcome with shell lei. Buffet dinner with a drink
- Paradise: welcome with kukui nut lei. Buffet dinner with two drinks and a flower garland.
- Royal: welcome with flower lei. Buffet dinner with three drinks, a Mai Tai cocktail and a gift.
The origin of these festivities dates back to 1819. Prior to this year, religious ceremonies involved the division of the sexes. King Kamehameha II put an end to the tradition, giving birth to the Luau. These grandiose celebrations are accompanied by dishes characteristic of the archipelago:
- Pineapple Glazed Chicken: a crispy, tasty chicken with a distinctive sweet and sour flavour.
- Lomi-Lomi Salmon: a fresh and delicious salad. The fish, previously massaged in salt, is accompanied by tomato, onion, spring onion and lime juice.
- Kalua Pig: For this recipe, the pig is cooked in a hole in the ground heated with volcanic rocks. It is slow-cooked by burning two types of firewood: plantain and kiawe.
- Poi: a purplish-coloured tuber, crushed and fermented.
This show is suitable for the whole family and can be performed at any time of the year. It is usually held in the evening/night. In the dark, the Luau is even more captivating.
