Step by Step

When you arrive at the Ground Zero Museum Workshop, you will have the opportunity to access more than 100 exhibits presented with images, videos, audios and remains found during the Ground Zero Recovery Period. You can take the audio-guided tour on your own or join the tour with a specialised museum guide.

As you go on the tour, you can get up close to the most intimate and emotional objects, such as the Frozen Clock, whose time has been stuck since the time of the South Tower's collapse.

During your visit you will also have access to images of the PATH train tunnels affected during the explosions. You will also watch videos of the excavation and search for victims which lasted for more than 9 months.

In all the exhibits you will learn a story full of meaning. From survivors to police and firefighters, you will be presented with unique images including the charred page of the Bible in Genesis 11, the Tower of Babylon in the rubble of the WTC and exclusive portraits of the Honor Guard.

You will also have access to 3D photographic installations. This material was produced by Gary Marlon Suson, Ground Zero's only licensed photographer.

In most museums you are not allowed to touch objects. However, the Ground Zero museum workshop is different. During your visit you can get your hands on objects such as glass fragments, steel sheets and other elements belonging to the facades and windows of the towers.

This museum has twice been selected as one of the "25 Best Museums in the USA". It is located in Meatpacking, a historic neighbourhood where you can visit landmarks such as the High Line Park, the Chelsea Market Eatery and the Whitney Museum.

This visit was the most moving experience on our trip to New York. I recommend it to everyone, this museum workshop is a must see. I was not able to leave without crying, the feeling the visit conveys is too emotional and personal.

Very very exciting. Small and intimate, but very informative. If you want to understand the human sacrifice of some of the most moving stories of 9/11, this is the right place. The Museum is also located in a very nice area of NY, so spend some time wandering around the area.
