Get a ticket for the Ryman Auditorium and tour the interior on your own. Throughout the tour, you'll be able to immerse yourself in the history of the landmark through video experiences of the exhibits. You'll also learn about country music and the importance of this building as an icon of the city of Music City .
Ryman Auditorium is named after ship's captain Thomas Ryman, who in 1885 wanted to build the auditorium as a community meeting place for religious purposes. In 1892, the auditorium hosted its first concert, performed by the orchestra of musician Theodore Thomas.
Today, it is a world-famous performance venue, where artists such as Coldplay, Mumford & Sons and Bruce Springsteen, among others, have performed. With 2,362 seats, Ryam Auditorium is known as the Mother Church of country music, as Nashville is one of the cities where the genre originated.
You can watch the introductory film Soul of Nashville and relive the unique theatrical experience of more than a century of performances by music legends . These include concerts by Darius Rucker, The Fisk Jubilee Singers, Vice Gill and Sheryl Crow.
You'll also see the famous Hatch Show Print Gallery , filled with concert posters promoting artists of the era, some as iconic as Elvis Presley. At the end of the tour, you'll be able to have your photo taken on stage in the auditorium and take it home with you.
