Step by Step

A fishing trip is a private activity and a great way to experience Miami in a different way. The activity lasts 4 hours and includes all the necessary equipment: bait, tackle, fly and spinning rods and ice to store food and drinks.

After leaving the harbour, the boat arrives in an area of Biscayne Bay characterised by shallow waters but rich in marine life. Here, navigation is unaffected by the waves and currents of the open ocean.

Biscayne Bay is one of the best fishing spots in Florida. Its tropical waters are home to dozens of species, including shad, a large fish that prefers coastal areas and river estuaries. It is very combative and therefore a highly sought-after prey for anglers.

The most emblematic of all is the sailfish, recognisable by its large dorsal fin and its snout ending in a sting that resembles a fencing sword. When caught, it launches itself into a fast run to try to free itself from the hook. It can easily exceed 100 km/h. Because of this characteristic, it is another highly sought-after prey.

Another specimen worth mentioning is the grouper, bottom or deep-sea grouper. To catch it, you can use live bait or opt for trawling. The captain of the boat will be able to suggest the best option.

You can also fish for smaller fish such as mackerel, bonefish, hogfish (Lachnolaimus maximus) or snapper. At the same time, you can admire species that are not fished, such as turtles and manatees. At the end of the excursion, the boat will take you back to the starting point.

A friend and I booked the tour. We are both novices with little or no experience, and the guide patiently instructed us. We certainly had a great afternoon
