Step by Step

This dive trip departs from Lahaina (Maui) and goes to the neighbouring island of Lanai. Here you will find one of the most popular dive spots among divers: the Cathedrals. Your local guide will lead you around the rocky pinnacles, showing you the most striking nooks and crannies rich in marine life. To make the most of the experience, in addition to transport, lunch and two oxygen tanks are included. In total, the experience lasts about 6 hours.

The so-called Lanai Cathedrals are underwater caves created by the action of lava tubes. Over the years, the "roof" collapsed, leaving the interior exposed to the sun's rays. The volcanic action has modelled a surprising landscape with arches, small "rooms" and spires. During the dive, you will descend to about 25 metres.

Along the way down you will have the opportunity to see a myriad of marine creatures. Moray eels and lobsters peek out of holes in the rocks, while the open water is criss-crossed by Moorish idols, parrotfish, snappers, hawkfish and hundreds of other colourful species.

The reef is also the habitat of the Galapagos shark, which finds its favourite prey here: polyps, bony fish and squid. They are curious animals and pose no risk to divers, as long as they are not disturbed.

This experience includes diving equipment (apart from oxygen tanks). I recommend that you also bring a torch for use in the darker environments.
