Step by Step
The electric bike is the ideal mode of transport to visit Acadia National Park, Maine's most evocative protected area. By choosing this activity, you'll not only be entitled to an ebike, but also a trail map, a mobile phone holder, a helmet and even a lock.
Once booked, you will need to collect your bike from the Hull's Cove Visitor Centre. As for the duration, it's entirely up to you. Hire can last from a minimum of one hour to a maximum of 6 hours. The ebikes work like traditional mountain bikes but have pedal assist, a factor that allows you to make less of an effort. In any case, an instructor will explain how they work before you set off.
Within Acadia National Park, it's not possible to cycle on trails, but only on a series of gravel roads. The most popular is probably Park Loop Road, a circular route with breathtaking scenery. These roads were created by the will of John D. Rockefeller Jr., who created them to cross the park by carriage or horseback. By choosing this activity, you will be able to cross spruce forests, mountains, small lakes and streams.
Thanks to the pedal assistance, you don't need to be in exceptional shape. In any case, it is preferable to wear cycling clothes and sunglasses (in summer).
