Step by Step
This 1-day coach tour will take you from London to discover one of the most famous cities for its 18th century Georgian architecture, Bath, in the South West of England, as well as one of the most iconic prehistoric monuments: Stonehenge.
The itinerary includes a visit to Bath Abbey, a complex consisting of a Benedictine church founded in the 7th century, organised in the 10th century and rebuilt between the 12th and 16th centuries. You will also visit the prehistoric Stonehenge complex, a World Heritage Site located in the deserted vastness of Salisbury Plain. The complex has its origins 5,000 years ago and over time has become the site of pagan rites, an object of spiritual worship and a subject of debate.
If you want to complete the experience, you will have the opportunity to add two activities to the tour at the time of booking, including tickets to the Jane Austen Museum, housed in a fabulous Georgian-style residence which witnessed the famous writer's time in the city of Bath and which she later reflected so well in her work. You can also add tickets to the city' s ancient Roman baths. Built almost 2,000 years ago, they are the only hot spring in the country.
Don't miss the popular Royal Crescent residential complex designed by the renowned architect John Wood and built between 1767 and 1774. It is one of the finest examples of Georgian architecture in the UK.
Another of the town's landmarks is the Pulteney Bridge over the River Avon which was completed in 1774 and connected the town to the Pulteney family estates. It was designed by Robert Adam in the Palladian style and is notable for having shops on both sides.
