Step by Step

Embark on this 2-hour guided tour of London's iconic royal sites, where you'll witness the majestic Changing of the Guard ceremony in front of Buckingham Palace. This tour will take you through London's historic sites as your expert guide shares stories and anecdotes about the British monarchy.

The tour begins in picturesque Green Park, one of London's eight royal parks, known for its tranquillity and natural scenery. As you stroll along its shady paths, your guide will tell you about the park's history, its connection to royalty and some curious anecdotes, such as its transformation from hunting ground to haven for rest and relaxation.

From Green Park, you'll head towards the majestic Buckingham Palace, crossing the elegant, flag-draped, tree-lined avenue of The Mall. As you approach, the iconic façade of the palace, the official residence of the British monarch, will be revealed.

Depending on which day you visit, you can watch the changing of the guard on foot, carried out by soldiers of the Household Division on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Another option is the cavalry parade and changing of the guard. Although this takes place daily, it will be the ceremony you will see if you attend on a Tuesday or Thursday.

Finally, on Saturdays there is the so-called Guard Mounting or the Inspection of the New Guard. At this ceremony, the captain examines the soldiers to make sure everything is in order, from uniforms to equipment.

After exploring Buckingham Palace and witnessing the iconic Changing of the Guard, the itinerary continues to some of the city's most notable historic sites:

  1. St. James's Palace: historic royal residence and current venue for important official events. Your guide will explain its role in the history of the monarchy.

  2. Clarence House: Home to members of the royal family, including King Charles III before he ascended the throne. Learn about its significance and its relationship to other royal residences.

  3. Horse Guards Parade: A large ceremonial square used for military events and parades, such as the famous Trooping the Colour. It is a place steeped in history and tradition.

  4. Whitehall: The historic street where several government buildings are located, including the Banqueting House, the only remnant of the former Palace of Whitehall, famous for its connection with Charles I.

  5. Parliament and Big Ben: The tour concludes with views of the Palace of Westminster and its famous clock tower, where your guide will share stories about the relationship between Parliament and the Crown.

Throughout the tour, your expert English-speaking guide will share fascinating anecdotes about the history of the monarchy, royal traditions and significant events that have shaped British history. This tour is a complete experience to immerse yourself in the heritage and culture of royalty.

At first I was told that my booking had not been made but in the end they were able to find it and fix the mistake. The ceremony went faster than I thought it would and I liked it a lot.
