Step by Step

For some years now there has been a new way of admiring Seville: a ride on a stand up paddle surf (SUP). It is a sport somewhere between surfing and canoeing and its success is mainly due to two factors: it is easy to learn and trains all the muscles of the body in a balanced way. Anyone can practise this sport, all you need is a calm surface, a board and a paddle. This activity lasts about 2 hours and starts in Triana, a historic fishing quarter and the birthplace of flamenco.

The instructors will be happy to explain the secrets of this discipline and give you tips on how to get the most out of the experience. By booking this activity you will have the right to rent a SUP board, a paddle and a life jacket. During the trip you will be able to leave all your personal belongings on a support boat. If that's not enough, the facilities include changing rooms, cloakroom and a convenient car park.

If you've never been on a paddle surf board before, you have nothing to fear. Stand up paddling is not complicated: you learn quickly and have a lot of fun. The important thing is to find the right centre of gravity and keep your back straight.

Fortunately, the urban stretch of the Guadalquivir is perfect for water activities. In fact, it is not the river itself, but the Canal de Alfonso XIII, also known as the Seville Dock. It corresponds to the old course of the Guadalquivir and, as well as having prevented numerous floods, is characterised by the placidity of its waters.

The river walk starts in Triana, Seville's most characteristic neighbourhood. Along the route you will see some of the landmarks of Seville's capital: the Torre del Oro, the Triana, Barqueta and Alamillo bridges, the elegant Calle Betis and more. This activity can be perfect if you visit the city during the summer. Gliding over the water will make you forget the summer heat.
