Step by Step

This tour of Toledo's underground is the ideal way to discover the history of the city hidden underground, a legendary trace of the different eras that made this destination a World Heritage Site.

An expert guide will take you on an exclusive journey, in which only you and your group will participate, through the excellently preserved vestiges of the Roman and Muslim eras in the area. You will visit Arab baths, thermal complexes and wells that will give you a different and little-known perspective of Toledo.

Among the historical sites and monuments that you will have the opportunity to discover on this approximately two-hour excursion are:

  • Caves of Hercules: enter this 1st century underground water supply complex that is lost in a labyrinth of passages and a myriad of legends that fill it with mystery.
  • Roman Baths: explore the archaeological remains of a place where, in addition to systematising the water supply in the era of the Roman Empire, locals gathered to hang out, socialise and bathe.
  • Well of El Salvador: enter the entrance and the main room of this basement that forms part of Toledo's historical hydraulic heritage, where the water enjoyed by its inhabitants in the past was collected.
  • Baths of Caballel: these date from 1183 and were made up of three bathing rooms: one with cold, one with warm and one with hot water. When you enter its structure you will travel back in time, between its medieval stone walls.
  • Baños del Cenizal: on the way down from the Colegio de Infantes, you will find these well-preserved baths from the Middle Ages. You can enter the entrance hall and the cold water bath.

You will have the opportunity to see the impressive constructions, architecture and engineering of eras such as the Roman, Muslim, Conquest and Reconquest, of which this historic region of the community of Castilla-La Mancha has been a part.

A different experience, of high quality, but perhaps not very pleasant for people with a lot of claustrophobia like me. Recommended to do it once for all the secrets you learn about the city.

A private tour of the archaeological remains of Toledo. It was without a doubt one of the most interesting experiences I had during my holiday. Highly recommended for everyone.
