The Spanish capital is known for its tourism, its gastronomy and its wide variety of leisure, cultural and entertainment attractions. However, its importance in terms of wine is not so well known. Madrid wines have had a Protected Designation of Origin since 1990.

There are wine sub-zones under this Denomination of Origin "Vinos de Madrid" and this includes reds and whites alike. You will taste Tempranillo, Malvar or some local wines among others.

The most outstanding whites in this region are those from the sub-zones "Arganda del Rey " or "Navalcarnero". Among the reds, there are the Crianza wines. Although it is true that the wines of Madrid are young, they are of high quality and their production is improving every day.
