Granada Alhambra Palace Ticket Price

Many travellers dream of travelling to Granada to see its legendary Alhambra, whose beauty has inspired people from all over the world for centuries. It is, therefore, a very popular monument and the most visited in Spain. But how much do tickets cost and what can you see for free?

Don't worry, I'll tell you everything you need to know about Alhambra ticket prices below.

How much does a skip-the-line ticket to the Alhambra cost?

Tickets to the Alhambra (including access to the Nasrid Palaces, the Charles V Palace and the Alhambra Museum) cost around 30 euros.

Even so, buying tickets at the ticket office is not the best idea. My advice is to buy your Alhambra tickets online in advance to avoid endless queues at the ticket office. Each day the capacity is limited and you could run the risk of running out of tickets.

That's why the best option is to buy an Alhambra ticket online to avoid the queues at the ticket office as it will give you priority access and you will be guaranteed entry for the day and time of your choice.

How much does a guided tour of the Alhambra cost?

The price of a guided tour of the Alhambra varies depending on the type of tour you book and what the tour includes. For example, in Hellotickets you can find a guided tour of the Alhambra which includes access to the Generalife for about 3 hours from 30 euros. But beware: this tour does not include the Nasrid Palaces.

If you are looking for a more personalised experience on your guided tour of the Alhambra you can pay around 140 euros for a more exclusive version of the guided tour for you and your group. Both include entrance with priority access to all the monuments.

Guided Night Tour

The night views of the Alhambra from the famous Mirador de San Nicolás or any corner of the city are a spectacle in themselves, but you also have the chance to visit the inside of the monument at sunset. With the guided night tour you can also visit the Nasrid Palaces and enjoy even more, if you can, the magic of this great complex, emblem of Islamic art in Spain. From around 60 euros.

What is the price of the Nasrid Palaces?

The entrance to the Nasrid Palaces is included in the price of the Alhambra tickets and in most guided tours of the Alhambra, so you won't have to pay extra to access this part of the fortress.

The Alhambra is the most visited monument in Spain and the eighth wonder of the world, so there is a great demand to see it. Especially the Nasrid Palaces, the jewel of the monumental complex.

If your dream is to see the Alhambra and you haven't been careful enough to buy tickets online and in advance of your travel date, you can always try your luck at the monument's ticket office and try to get tickets there for the same day but you run the risk of running out of tickets due to high demand and queuing for nothing.

Access to the gardens and the Generalife Palace is included in most of the guided tours to the Alhambra that you will find in Hellotickets. So if you book a full guided tour, you will not have to pay extra to visit this part of the palatine city.

Due to conservation and security reasons, capacity is limited. My advice is to book your Alhambra tickets as far in advance as possible, as soon as you book your hotel or flight. If your trip to Granada coincides with public holidays, bank holidays or weekends, I recommend doing so at least one or two months before your visit.

Bear in mind that the Alhambra is the most visited monument in Spain, so there is a great demand to visit it both nationally and internationally.

How can I save money buying tickets for the Alhambra?

The Alhambra in Granada is one of the most in-demand monuments in the world and, as you can imagine, it is difficult to find discounts, offers or cheap last minute tickets. However, it is not impossible to save when buying tickets for the Alhambra. Here's how you can do it!

Getting tickets at the ticket office

One option is to try to get a single ticket at the ticket office without a guided tour for the day of the visit. Although they are a bit cheaper, I don't recommend it because the demand to see the Alhambra is very high and places are limited. It is not worth queuing endlessly at the ticket office because tickets are usually sold out in no time and your time is also precious.

Taking advantage of the reduced rate for certain groups

There are discounts for certain groups (European Youth Card holders, EU citizens over 65, people with disabilities, etc.) who can buy tickets to the Alhambra at a lower price than the general public. These people must present at the ticket office a document proving that they are entitled to the discount.

If you are one of these people, remember to go to the Alhambra ticket office well in advance in order to get your definitive ticket.

With the Granada Card

Another interesting alternative to save on your visit to the Alhambra is to get the Granada Card, a tourist card that will not only give you access to the Alhambra and the Generalife but also to other attractions in the city. In addition, it will also allow you to use the city bus to move comfortably between different places.

Buying the Granada Card has several advantages. On the one hand, you will save time as you won't have to queue at the ticket office of each monument to get your tickets. On the other hand, you will save money as this 24, 48 or 72 hour tourist pass allows you to enter Granada's main attractions at a flat or reduced rate. There are also significant discounts on other tourist services.

There is also a Granada Card for children from 2 to 11 years old which includes the same services as the adult Granada Card.

If you are a foreign traveller

In the event that during your trip to Granada you are unable to get tickets for the Alhambra, don't worry because you can always visit the free part of the Nasrid palace city and take some beautiful pictures.

Although it is the least spectacular of the monumental complex it has some very interesting places that will catch your attention such as:

  • The walls.
  • The Gate of Justice, which is the most iconic of the complex.
  • The Plaza de los Aljibes
  • The Gate of the Carriages
  • The Palace of Charles V, which houses the Alhambra Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts.
  • The Calle Real, the main street of the old Medina, which has been preserved since medieval times.
  • The Parador de Turismo de Granada in the Alhambra, a former 15th century convent built by the Catholic Monarchs.
  • On the esplanade in front of the palace you can see the Wine Gate and even take a souvenir photo with the Albaicín in the background.

Another place you can go for free to enjoy the wonderful Alhambra is the Mirador de San Nicolás in the Albaicín neighbourhood. From there you will get the best panoramic view of the Andalusian fortress with the Sierra Nevada in the background. You will also have unbeatable views of the Alcazaba, the Nasrid palaces and the Generalife. Did you know that it is said that the most beautiful sunset in Spain is here?

If you are from Granada or live in Granada

In order to raise awareness of the historical and cultural importance of the Alhambra among the local population, the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife launched an initiative to provide free access to the monument to all people from Granada and residents of the province at weekends.

To visit the Alhambra for free, those interested must make a reservation online by filling out the form and attaching the required supporting documentation. Another option is to book in person at the Residents' Office located in the Corral del Carbón.
