Over the course of 2.5 hours, you'll be accompanied by an expert guide, with whom you'll learn lots of interesting facts about the history and culture of the city.
You will visit the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba, which in 1882 was declared a site of cultural interest and historical heritage of Spain. In 2019, the Mosque broke an all-time record, receiving more than 2 million visitors, making it one of the most visited monuments in all of Spain. Don't worry about crowds and queues, because the experience includes entrance tickets so you don't have to buy them on your own or wait at the ticket office.
The building was built in 786, during the Muslim rule of the city. For centuries it was the second largest mosque in the world, second only to the Mecca Mosque, until 1588 when it was surpassed by the Blue Mosque in Istanbul.
You will have the opportunity to take a private tour inside the building and learn about its history and architecture. Once you have seen the Mosque, you will continue your tour through the Jewish quarter of Cordoba, the main Jewish quarter of the city between the 13th and 15th centuries. You will discover all about the customs and life of the Jews of the time, as well as their coexistence with Christians and Muslims.
The historic centre of Cordoba, where the Mosque-Cathedral and the Jewish Quarter are located, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. As the capital of Al-Andalus and the Umayyad Caliphate, Cordoba experienced a period of splendour between the 8th and 10th centuries. The city was one of the main commercial and intellectual centres of the world, rivalling the great cities of the time, such as Baghdad, Constantinople and Damascus.
