Ready for an excursion that mixes history and underground wonders? Here's a plan from Krakow: explore Auschwitz, a place steeped in memory and reflection, and then visit the fascinating salt mines of Wieliczka. Two unmissable stops in one day.

Get ready for an intense day full of contrasts. This guided tour, lasting about eleven hours, will take you first to the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, about 50 kilometres from Kraków. Here, every corner tells a story that invites you not to forget. Afterwards, we'll switch gears and head to the Wieliczka Salt Mines, just 16 kilometres from the city, where history mingles with impressive sculptures and underground galleries.

You will travel in an air-conditioned minibus , comfortable and prepared for a small group of about 30 travellers. The tour starts from a central location in Krakow, in Floriana Straszewskiego. All you need to do is arrive in advance and show the voucher you received by email when booking (printed or from your smartphone) and a valid ID. If you are travelling with children, remember that children under the age of 4 travel free of charge.

  • A journey into the past and underground: Visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, the most famous concentration camp, and then travel to the Wieliczka Salt Mine, a unique underground world.

Step by Step

Get ready for a day that will take you from Krakow to two of the most striking and fascinating places in Poland. This tour will immerse you in history and show you wonders hidden underground. Ready for the journey?

Imagine leaving Krakow and travelling some 50 kilometres to Auschwitz, where you will start with the documentary "The Liberation of Auschwitz". This is just the beginning of a tour that will take you to the heart of Europe's largest concentration camp. With a professional guide, you will explore the crematoria, the Wall of Death, the Birkenau Camp and the barracks where the prisoners lived. A place preserved so that the memory and the tribute to more than a million people, most of them Jews, will not be lost.

During your visit, bring your ID and remember to behave respectfully. Photography is allowed in most areas, but there are exceptions where it is not permitted.

After an intense morning, you will have a change of scenery and head to the Wieliczka Salt Mines, about 64 kilometres from Auschwitz. This underground complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a place where you will discover salt-carved chambers, statues and chapels. Be prepared to descend some 600 steps (yes, it's a good workout), so an average level of fitness is recommended.

This eleven-hour tour is designed to give you the full experience. From the minibus transport to the detailed explanations of the guide, every moment is designed to give you a unique day out. Would you like to discover Poland in a different way?

This is a day for the curious, history lovers and those who are looking for unusual experiences. From the solemn history of Auschwitz to the impressive salt mines of Wieliczka, every step of this journey will take you to places and moments that leave their mark. Are you up for it?

I think that the tour should not show the gas chambers because there are people who are very sensitive and this may affect them. The guide who accompanied us was very knowledgeable about the subject.
