Step by Step
The Akerselva river kayak tour in Oslo will allow you to experience the Norwegian capital from the natural purity that characterises it.
The trip starts in the lively neighbourhood of Vulkan, near Mathallen. You will paddle along the river towards the colourful neighbourhood of Grunnerløkka, passing through the centre of Grønland.
You will enter a spectacular 500-metre long tunnel for an exciting and unique experience that will take you into the Oslo Fjord.
As the kayaks make their way through the tunnel, they plunge into the darkness, guided by the current and the sound of the water. Finally, you'll emerge into the fjord, where you'll get a breathtaking view of the city from the water.
The iconic, 8km-long tributary flows from Lake Maridalsvannet in Nordmarka, the forested area north of the capital. It flows through Oslo's cityscape, which contrasts perfectly with lush forests and waterfalls that will make your trip unforgettable.
In addition to the visual spectacle, the Akerselva River has a rich history. During the Middle Ages, it was used as a source of water for industry and agriculture. Today, it is a popular place for hiking, cycling and sailing.
If you've never kayaked before, don't worry, as the expert tour guides will accompany and assist you throughout the tour and prepare you with all the safety equipment, such as helmet and life jacket.
When you reach the finishing point of the tour, you'll be positioned next to the iconic Oslo Opera House, a landmark of Norwegian art and architecture.
