Step by Step

This experience departs from San Miguel de Cozumel, the island's main town, and heads out into the Caribbean Sea. After leaving the coast aboard a glass-bottomed boat, you'll make a few stops to snorkel and enjoy the wildlife that lives in this corner of Mexico. The activity lasts approximately 2 hours and includes soft drinks, water and beer.

The island of Cozumel is located 20 km from Playa del Carmen, in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. It is a true natural paradise, as the vast majority of its territory is covered with tropical vegetation and is also home to cenotes. Here you will find the second largest coral reef in the world, which is home to an abundance of marine life. In addition to dolphins, sharks and sea turtles, the following species can be seen during a walk or snorkel:

  • Angelfish - Recognisable by vertical black stripes interspersed with multicoloured spots. Their diet consists mainly of sponges.
  • Caribbean Manatee - Large marine mammal with a calm temperament. It has a herbivorous diet although it does not disdain small crustaceans and fish from time to time.
  • Splendid Toadfish - Recognisable by a flattened, elongated mouth and bright yellow colouration on the edges of the fins. It is endemic to Cozumel.
  • Giant anemone - A marine invertebrate with colourful, stinging tentacles that it uses to trap prey. It is home to some species, such as the clownfish.

Cozumel's waters are also home to a World War II wreck, the Felipe Xicoténcatl. Before it sank it was a US Navy minesweeper and has become home to hundreds of species.

A very fun boat trip, although the diving option didn't convince me too much. Otherwise nothing to criticise, it is an option that I highly recommend if you are in the area.

The perspective this boat gives you is priceless. It was one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever had on a holiday. I highly recommend this option for anyone visiting Cozumel.
