Step by Step

Take this guided walking tour of Livorno, one of Tuscany's coastal cities, which usually lasts just over 2 hours. You will learn about its history, as well as the most important events it has been involved in from the local tour guide who will accompany you.

In order to make the tour comfortable, uncrowded and so that everyone can listen to the guide, small groups are organised. These usually consist of about 8 people on each tour.

Accompanied by a local guide, you will feel like a local throughout the tour. This way, you will visit the most essential monuments and areas of the city. For example, you will visit the city's Central Market where many Livorians go about their daily lives. This market was built in the 19th century and here you will find all kinds of fresh produce and cafés.

As for monuments, you will see the imposing Fortaleza Nueva, built in the 16th century to defend the city. Due to its size and the large space inside it, today it can be visited as a public garden.

Not to be forgotten is the area of New Venice, a neighbourhood of Livorno that was built on the sea. This gave rise to maritime trade and merchant stalls similar to those in the city that gives its name to the neighbourhood.

We were lucky to have a guide who was very passionate about his work. I went with a group of 5 other friends and we were the only ones. It was practically a private tour at an excellent price.

The New Venice area and the central market were my favourites. We had free time to buy whatever we wanted.
