Bari, capital of the Apulia region and on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, is known for its delicious and unique cuisine, characterised by its simplicity and use of fresh ingredients. For example, some of the delicacies you can try during your tour of the city are:

  • Focaccia Barese: a soft and spongy bread topped with cherry tomatoes, olives and sometimes onions.
  • Taralli: small, crunchy biscuits, which are the typical snack of Bari. They are made with flour, olive oil and white wine and come in various flavours.
  • Orecchiette: Bari's most famous pasta shape, which means "little ears".
  • Octopus: grilled or stewed, this is a popular dish in the city, served with potatoes, olive oil and lemon.
