Step by Step
Join a fascinating tour of the Connemara region and discover one of Ireland's most beautiful areas. The tour will last approximately 8 hours, during which you will visit many of the region's monuments and landmarks, allowing you to discover more about the island's past and its rural environment.
Throughout the tour you will be accompanied by an expert guide, who will teach you about the history and culture of the different places you will pass through. You will see the beautiful castle that is Kylemore Abbey and learn about its romantic and tragic history.
Inside the castle, you can indulge in the excellent home cooking of the Benedictine nuns who live in the abbey, while exploring the building and enjoying the views of its beautiful walled gardens.
You will also have the opportunity to enjoy views of Lough Corrib, the largest lake in the Republic of Ireland and the second largest on the island. Covering an area of 176 km², it will amaze you with its majesty and the beauty of its natural surroundings.
Another place you will explore is Killary Harbour, Ireland's only fjord. With a length of 16 kilometres, it is known for its depth, which reaches more than 45 metres at its centre.
The last stop on your tour will be the charming village of Cong. It is famous for its beautiful abbey, which dates back to the 12th century, and for its luxurious gold and silver processional cross. It is also the filming location for the classic John Wayne movie, The Quiet Man .
