Step by Step

This cruise on the Danube will allow you to admire the main monuments of the city from a boat with panoramic windows. During the tour you can enjoy a drink, which can be champagne, wine, beer, lemonade, soft drinks or mineral water, and listen to information about the history of Budapest thanks to an audio guide. The following monuments can be seen from the river:

  • Elisabeth Bridge - Destroyed during World War II, it was rebuilt in modern style. It is dedicated to the famous Sissi.
  • BudaCastle - Located on the top of a hill, it dominates the Hungarian capital. Once the residence of kings, it now houses the National Gallery, the Széchenyi Library and the Budapest History Museum.
  • Chain Bridge - This was the first bridge to connect Buda and Pest, which before its construction were two separate cities. Its genesis is due to the Englishman William Tierney Clark and the Scotsman Adam Clark.
  • Hungarian Parliament - A true symbol of Budapest, it is inspired by the British Parliament and, like the one in London, is built on the banks of the river. Its extraordinary silhouette was designed by the architect Imre Steindl, work began in 1885 and was not completed until 1902.
  • Fishermen's Bastion - A particularly impressive section of the old city walls. It is a splendid example of Hungarian eclecticism and mixes neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque elements. It is a stone's throw from the beautiful Matthias Church.

The last stop is Margaret Island, where, if you wish, you can get off the boat and take a stroll. It is a green oasis that is home to the ruins of a Dominican convent, the zoo, the Palatinus Baths spa complex and a charming Japanese garden. You can also stay on board and return to the starting point. In total, the cruise lasts approximately 70 minutes.

We went with my family, the truth is that it was great. Besides my children are young and this activity is not very long, it was great for us! Before they started to misbehave it was over. The photos and the memories we took were great!

What a great time we had! We were delighted with a glass of Champagne and everything. It would have been perfect if the experience lasted a little longer.
