Step by Step

Get to know French Provence on a day trip to Arles, Saint Rémy and Les Baux from Marseille. This is an activity that lasts around ten and a half hours and in groups of around eight people, so the attention will be totally personalised thanks to the local guide who will accompany you. From a meeting point in Marseille, you will set off for the various French coastal towns and villages in an air-conditioned minivan .

In Arles, located about 90 kilometres by road from Marseille, you will have the opportunity to see the great jewel of the painter Van Gogh. Many of his works were inspired by this Provençal town. The artist painted, for example, Café Terrace at Night, inspired by the Café de Nuit, which you will visit.

Arles also served as the landscape for many of his other best-known paintings, such as La maison jaune and Le jardin de l'hôtel Dieu.

Another stop on this tour is the village of Les Baux de Provence, located north of Arles. Here you can have some free time and have lunch on your own in one of the many restaurants. The village is characterised by 16th century tourist and residential buildings that are still standing, as well as other attractions that you can see, such as the Church of Saint Vincent.

Another point of this tour that you will visit is Saint Rémy, which was an ancient Greco-Roman city that still preserves many of its vestiges. For example, les Antiques, a funerary monument that became a scene that Van Gogh used to portray in his works of art.

If you take the tour on a Wednesday, you can visit the Provençal market in Saint Rémy, while if you take the tour on a Saturday, you will have the opportunity to visit the open-air Provençal market in Arles.

I loved the tour, but they should include an option to pick you up from the hotel to avoid the stress of the transfer.

The air-conditioning makes the ride more relaxed as the heat was almost unbearable.

They should include entrance fees to monuments and museums in the price, it would make it much easier to fully enjoy the trip.
