Step by Step

With these tickets to the Château de Chenonceau you will travel back in time to 1513. At that time, Thomas Bohier and his wife began to build this impressive castle in a magical location. In fact, its origins go back to the 12th and 13th centuries, from where the terrifying dungeon still remains.

You can wander on your own through the different rooms to discover the history of this place, which was home to a virtually unbroken succession of women at the helm. On your tour you will come across an enormous collection of art, furniture and paintings.

You'll see up close works by such well-known artists as Rubens, Primaticcio, Tintoretto, Correggio, Van Loo, Murillo, Clouet and more. Also furniture, tapestries and paintings by some of the best European painters of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.

The beautiful gardens, characterised by rows of roses, flower beds surrounded by shrubs and views of the river, are at your disposal. It is the ideal place to enjoy a pleasant and relaxing stroll.

To learn about the history of the place, you can download the free app Découvrir Chenonceau, where you will find relevant information. But if you want to make the most of your visit, you can select the audio guide to receive more extensive commentary throughout the tour.

For your convenience, this tourist attraction has a free car park.
