Step by Step
A Shanghai food tour is the best way to combine the enjoyment of the senses with an in-depth understanding of the city. It's a different way to explore Shanghai's busiest spots and get an insight into the daily life of the locals.
This tour, which lasts approximately 3 hours, will take you through the streets of Xintiandi in the city centre. From there, an expert local guide will accompany you through different restaurants where you will have the opportunity to taste and learn about the different dishes of the traditional cuisine of the area.
You will discover the secret of the dumpling soup, so popular with the locals, and other local products such as spring rolls, lotus rice confit, roast duck or spring onion oil noodles. Green or black tea will be your ideal ally to cleanse your palate between tastings.
Along the way, you will stroll among the Chinese stone houses, called shikumen, which are striking in comparison with the French Concession flat blocks. You will also get a close look at the daily life of street vendors, office workers and mahjong players.
By the end of the tour, you will have eaten enough to have had breakfast, lunch or dinner, depending on the time you have chosen. The evening session of the tour also includes a local beer or dessert.
