Step by Step

Immerse yourself in Victoria's rich history and exciting culinary scene as you embark on this walking tour of British Columbia. For around 2 hours you'll be accompanied by an expert guide, with whom you'll have the opportunity to explore the city's charms and sample a variety of local flavours along the way.

Your adventure will begin in the heart of the Hudson district, at the historic Victoria Public Market at the Hudson. This former waterfront space has been transformed into a bustling public market, where you can browse the merchants' food stalls and sample delicious traditional Canadian fare.

As you make your way along, you'll enter the iconic Fan Tan Alley, Canada's narrowest thoroughfare and the heart of Victoria's picturesque Chinatown. You'll continue your tour through Market Square, a vibrant public space that used to be an animal trading market in the city's old town.

Along the way, you'll also stroll along Government Street, a pedestrianised area lined with shops, bars and restaurants, and explore the quirky Trounce Alley district , known for the quality of its excellent restaurants and shops.

The tour will also take you to Bastion Square, a place with a rich history, known for once housing Fort Victoria , a building that served as a control centre for Canada's fur trade in the mid-19th century. Today, it's a space filled with excellent restaurants, bars and live music.

Finally, you'll arrive at the Destination Greater Victoria Visitor Centre, near the Parliament Buildings on the beautiful Inner Harbour. Along the way, you'll enjoy multiple tastings of top-quality local produce, from craft beer and chocolate to tea, tapas, cheese and more.

I loved the variety of flavours and the rich culinary history of Victoria, but I would have liked the tour to include more stops at local restaurants.
