Step by Step

Explore the typical Canadian landscape as you take this ice walk in Banff's Johnston Canyon. For about 4 hours you will be accompanied by a professional guide who, being part of a small group of about 12 people, will be able to pay more attention to you.

Due to the icy environment you will need to wear ski clothes such as a hat, gloves and warm boots, but everything you need for the tour is already included. On departure you will be provided with snow shoes and a hiking stick. During the walk you will stop for a snack of maple biscuits and hot chocolate.

Along the walk you will cover approximately 5 km in total, and you will climb about 135 m. The route is designed to give you a close-up view of the area's most impressive natural scenery such as waterfalls frozen in beautiful ice sheets.

The guide will also point out the flora and fauna around you, even explaining how they survive in this environment. You will also learn details about the history and usefulness of this canyon, as well as information about its geology.
