With this day trip to the Actun Tunichil Muknal cave you will discover one of the most important archaeological treasures of Belize. Departing from San Ignacio and together with an expert guide you will live a unique experience and learn all about the history and culture of the ancient Mayan civilisation.

Your day will begin with a bus ride from San Ignacio to the Belize Caves National Park. Upon arrival, you will meet your expert guide and he will provide you with detailed information about the cave and its archaeological significance . Once you arrive at the cave entrance, you will be equipped with a helmet, torch and all the necessary gear to begin your underground adventure.

As you enter the cave, you will be amazed by its impressive rock formations, narrow passages and various chambers. In addition to seeing its beautiful crystal clear stalactites and stalagmites, you will also find ancient Mayan artefacts as well as a sacred burial site.

In addition to exploring this cave, you can also enter the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve and hike through the jungle until you reach the cave entrance. To access the cave, you will swim through a small spring-fed pool. After 3 hours of walking through underground labyrinths of tunnels, passageways and chambers, where you will see the famous crystallised skeleton of the Crystal Maiden, you will return to the jungle world and walk back to the vehicle.

Before returning to San Ignacio, you will enjoy a homemade picnic lunch with water and soft drinks .
