Step by Step

This tour lasts approximately 12 hours and travels along the Great Ocean Road, a famous scenic road in the state of Victoria. It's a private activity, just for you and your group of friends or family, and includes an expert guide, entrance fees to the national parks touched (Great Otway and Port Campbell, which encompass the locations listed below) and transfers to and from your Melbourne hotel.

The route is particularly impressive and touches on beaches popular with surfers - such as the famous Bells Beach and Lorne Beach - and beautiful natural scenery. Listed below are the main stops:

  • Split Point Lighthouse - Lighthouse in the coastal village of Aireys Inlet, along the Great Ocean Road. Built in 1891, it stands on a cliff over 30 metres high.
  • Mait's Rest - A short, circular trail featuring wooden walkways and bridges that allow you to cross the rainforest without damaging the vegetation. Some trees in the reserve are over 300 years old.
  • Kennet River Koala Walk - A walk through a eucalyptus forest that allows visitors to spot koalas in their natural habitat. With a bit of luck, it's also possible to spot cockatoos, kangaroos and other animals.
  • Twelve Apostles Marine National Park - This protected area contains a series of limestone chimneys that originated between 10 and 20 million years ago. There are actually only eight and the survivors are continually subject to erosion by the elements. A short distance away are other unique formations: Loch Ard and London Bridge.

The tour usually ends at the foot of the Eureka Skydeck, a viewing platform on the 88th floor of the Eureka Tower, one of the tallest skyscrapers in the southern hemisphere. If you want to enjoy the view, you'll have to pay for your own ticket.

Simply spectacular. We made a LOT of stops. The investment was 100% worth it, no doubt about it.

It was a lovely getaway and an opportunity to immerse myself in Australian coastal life. The guide was the best companion we could have had.

We were very lucky to see koalas on the Kennet River Koala Walk. Literally a true gift of nature.

My guide was very wise and shared interesting information about the conservation of each place we went to. Going private was the best decision. It was a very specialised service.
