If you are planning to visit Buenos Aires between September and December, you are in luck, because spring is one of the best times of the year to visit this wonderful city. The weather is perfect, as it is neither too hot nor too cold, and there are plenty of activities to do.

From food and music festivals to cultural heritage tours, there's something for everyone. Whether you are interested in art, history, entertainment or simply want to enjoy the privileged weather, Buenos Aires will not leave you wanting. And spring is one of the best times of the year to visit.

1. Enjoy the amazing Palermo Woods

If you are looking for a quiet and outdoors place to visit in Buenos Aires during spring, the Bosques de Palermo are an excellent option. At this time of the year, they are full of life and colour, becoming a natural oasis in the middle of the city.

The Bosques de Palermo is a set of parks and gardens of 80 hectares located, as its name suggests, in the beautiful neighbourhood of Palermo. It is one of the most visited places, both by tourists and locals, due to its great natural beauty, its lakes and paths. To make the most of this incredible place, you can book a bike tour of Buenos Aires, and ride it from end to end.

During the spring, the Palermo Woods are full of flowers, especially its imposing Rose Garden, making it one of the most romantic and charming places in the city. Strolling along the paths, enjoying the sun and nature and discovering every corner of the park is an experience not to be missed if you visit Buenos Aires during this wonderful time of the year.

2. Spend a day outdoors in the charming Tigre Delta

Tigre is a charming and colourful city, located on the banks of the exotic Paraná Delta. It is only an hour's train ride from the Retiro district, and is an ideal destination for a relaxing day out to enjoy the blooming nature of spring. A day trip to El Tigre from Buenos Aires will leave you in love with the place.

El Puerto de Frutos is one of the main attractions of the city. In the past, this place used to be the disembarkation point for fruits and vegetables coming from different places. Nowadays, it is a handicraft market with a great variety of products made of wicker, reed and pine. In addition, there are several restaurants and cafes to enjoy the breathtaking view of the river.

If you book an excursion to the Tigre delta you will be able to see the nature of the delta and the houses built on stilts that are typical of the area. And if you want a dose of adrenaline, I recommend the Tigre Casino, the Parque de la Costa or the Tren de la Costa.

The Night of the Museums is an annual celebration in which many of the art galleries, cultural centres and the best museums in Buenos Aires open their doors for extended hours, allowing visitors free access to exhibitions, collections and special events in a festive and welcoming atmosphere. The event takes place during the spring, usually in November, and offers a unique opportunity to get to know the cultural richness of the city.

During the Night of the Museums, in addition to the usual exhibitions and collections, museums usually organise special activities, such as concerts, film screenings, art workshops and other proposals that will offer you a different experience. One of my favourites is the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires, although I recommend booking a guided tour of Buenos Aires with a visit to MALBA, as it's known by its acronym, if you don't want to miss anything.

The Night of the Museums is a celebration that attracts thousands of visitors every year. So, if you are in the city in spring, don't miss this unique opportunity to get to know the culture, history and arts of Buenos Aires in a festive and pleasant atmosphere.

What better time than spring, when the weather is characterised by pleasant temperatures, to book tickets to Bioparque Temaiken and explore the flora and fauna of Argentina.

The Temaiken Foundation has the purpose of preserving nature and this environment consists of a zoo and a botanical garden that includes several areas that will captivate you: Mesopotamian, Patagonian, African and Asian fauna, as well as an aquarium.

It is an ideal activity to do with the family and see together the different species that live in the bio-park, such as black caimans, capybaras, lagoon turtles, overos, fruit bats, flying foxes, antelopes, flamingos, pelicans, cheetahs and hippopotamuses? The experience also includes transport to and from the hotels in the centre of Buenos Aires.

Being in Buenos Aires during spring is an ideal opportunity to visit the Ecological Reserve Costanera Sur, a unique natural space in the middle of the city. It is located on the coast of the Río de la Plata and has more than 350 hectares of green areas, wetlands, beaches and dunes.

Spring is an ideal time to visit the reserve, since the temperature is pleasant and the green areas are at their maximum splendour. Also, at this time of the year, many species of migratory birds visit the reserve, which makes bird watching a very popular activity. In addition, you can find different cultural and sporting activities in the reserve, such as art exhibitions, photography workshops, outdoor yoga and much more.

And if you are a bike lover, the reserve has a cycling circuit of 8 kilometres that will allow you to cycle through the whole reserve and enjoy its natural landscapes, so consider renting a bike or booking a bike tour.

If you are planning to travel to Buenos Aires during the spring months, you cannot miss La Noche de las Heladerías, an activity organised by the Asociación Fabricantes Artesanales de Helados that takes place once a year during the spring, usually in September.

During the night, ice cream parlours open their doors until the early hours of the morning and offer special promotions, discounts and free tastings of their best flavours. Every year, dozens of ice cream parlours from Buenos Aires participate, including some of the most renowned national and international ones. Besides Cadore, Rapa Nui and Italia, other ice cream parlours not to be missed are Persicco, Freddo, Chungo and Jauja.

La Noche de las Heladerías also includes live shows, music, contests and activities for the whole family. Therefore, it is one of the best things to do in Buenos Aires with children.

Another emblematic event held in Buenos Aires is the LGBTQ+ Pride Parade, a colourful and festive celebration of diversity and inclusion, which takes place every year in November, usually on the first Saturday, coinciding with spring in Argentina.

The Buenos Aires LGBTQ+ Pride Parade is one of the largest and most attended in all of Latin America, bringing together thousands of people of all ages, genders, sexual orientations and backgrounds. The march starts at Plaza de Mayo, located in the heart of the historic centre, and ends at the National Congress, where various shows and activities are held to celebrate diversity.

During the march, colourful floats, costumes and live music can be seen , creating a family atmosphere of celebration and joy. This celebration seeks to make visible and defend the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, being a space of vindication and struggle for equality. Participating in the parade can be a very enriching and fun experience.

The Hindu Ratha Yatra festival is one of the most important cultural events of the Hindu community in Buenos Aires, and takes place in the month of November, in the middle of spring. Every year, it is held in a square in the city (the location may vary from one year to another), where you can share with your family the typical traditions of India.

The festival has a wide programme of activities and shows related to the Hindu culture. Music, open-air yoga, classical Indian dances, Ayurvedic cooking classes, meditation, mantra chanting, sacred theatre and workshops for children. There is also a fair with stands selling Hindu clothes and accessories, decorative objects, books on Vedic philosophy, natural cosmetics and healthy food trucks.

In addition to the activities mentioned above, there is a procession in which sacred figures of Hindu deities are carried through the streets of the city, accompanied by music and traditional dances. If you are in Buenos Aires during the month of November and you are interested in Hindu culture, don't miss this festival full of colour, music and tradition.

A nice day trip from Buenos Aires, ideal for springtime, is to visit the beautiful Uruguayan city of Colonia del Sacramento. With its charming historic centre, rich culture and location on the banks of the Rio de la Plata, Colonia is a perfect destination.

Visiting Colonia is one of the best day trips to Uruguay from Buenos Aires. The best option is to take a fast ferry from the port and, after an hour, you will have reached your destination. In the Uruguayan city you can enjoy a day full of history, culture and good food.

One of the main attractions of Colonia is its historic centre, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Its cobbled streets, colonial houses and imposing lighthouse will transport you to another era and allow you to discover the history of the city. Stroll through its squares, visit its museums and enjoy the delicious Uruguayan food in its restaurants.

If you are a sports fan and you are looking for an activity to enjoy during the spring in Buenos Aires, you should definitely attend the Argentine Polo Open. This event is one of the most important in the world of polo and takes place every year during the months of November and December.

This event brings together the best teams in the world, who compete for the prestigious title. The tournament takes place at the iconic Campo Argentino de Polo de Palermo, an impressive stadium with a capacity of over 30,000 spectators. In addition to the polo matches, there is a wide variety of activities, including art exhibitions, concerts, food fairs and much more.

The fact that it takes place in spring makes it an ideal event to enjoy, as the weather is warm and pleasant. During the tournament, you can learn more about the history and culture of polo in Argentina. You can also immerse yourself in the country's culture by sampling a variety of typical foods and drinks, such as asado (barbecue) and mate. And if you would like to explore even more of the city's flavours, I recommend taking one of the best gastronomic tours in Buenos Aires.

What is the spring weather like in Buenos Aires?

Spring in Buenos Aires starts at the end of September and lasts until mid-December. In general, the weather during this season is very pleasant, ideal to go for a walk and visit the city. During the day, temperatures usually range between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius, although there may be warmer days. Evenings during the early spring can be a bit cooler, with temperatures hovering around 12-15 degrees Celsius.

So, what I recommend is that you wear comfortable, light clothing, as during the day it is hot and it can be uncomfortable to walk around in heavy clothes. Bermuda shorts, T-shirts, skirts and dresses are a good option. Don't forget to bring a light coat for the evening. I also recommend wearing comfortable and cool shoes, as you will be doing a lot of walking to get to know the city.
