Step by Step

Enjoy a day trip to San Antonio de Areco, the town of the famous Argentinean gauchos or cowboys, from Buenos Aires. A local guide will lead this activity and together with him you will visit an authentic ranch, called El Ombú de Areco, where you will enjoy a horse riding and gaucho wrestling show.

In addition, you will be able to take a horse or carriage ride. You will also enjoy an exquisite Argentinean barbecue, some sausages, cheeses and traditional drinks.

You will take a guided tour through the town of San Antonio de Areco and its historic centre, where you will visit points of interest such as:

  • Draghi Museum: it houses a large collection of rural goldsmith elements from the 19th century. You will be able to be a participant or spectator of the elaboration of the goldsmith pieces.
  • San Antonio de Padua Parish: the first oratory centre in the area founded by Don José Ruiz de Arellano and built between 1720 and 1728. A historical jewel.
  • Boliche de Bessonart Bar: it was one of the places visited in ancient times by the peasants to buy groceries and drinks. It was also a recurrent stop for the famous gaucho Don Segundo Ramirez, who was later a character in the novel Ricardo Güiraldes.

To guarantee a complete and comfortable experience from start to finish, the activity includes transfer to and from hotels in downtown Buenos Aires in areas such as Palermo, Recoleta and others.

The experience was much better than I expected, I had a more than pleasant time with the guide and the Argentinian gauchos. The only negative point was the weather, which unfortunately was not the best for a horseback ride.

It was a sensational day, we really enjoyed the atmosphere and had some very interesting chats with some of the local gauchos. A tour I would love to repeat on my next holiday in Argentina.
